About Us

Ydes Hotel was build in 1904 as the first building with more than 2 storeys in Odense. The name "Ydes" originates from Mrs. Ydes who ran the the hotel from WWII until the sixties.

During her time the hotel bar was the main attraction. Hot dishes and cold beer were the largest part of the business. Mrs. Ydes drove the hotel and the associated bar from a little corner of the bar until her 84th year. The kitchen and cooking were her pride and famous persons, like Dan Turèll, often visited to put their philosophical character on the hotel.

Ydes Hotel was overtaken by Steen Brenholst in the sixties and in 1988 the current owner, Lasse Vallestrand, took over. The hote was renovated, the rooms had bath/toilet installed and an elevator was added.

Ydes hotel was in 2008 totally renovated and there was installed a new fire alarm system with direct connection to the fire department. That meant the hotel got the award "Odense's beredskabspris" in 2008.

Our guests security and well being mean everything to us, therefor we have added a little extra by doing the following:

• All rooms are made of fire retardant materials.
• Fire alarms are installed in every room with direct connection to the fire department.
• Our elevator is of the newest and EU approved type
• Our reception is open 24 hours
• Our keys (for rooms and front entrance) which have not been returned are useless after transcoding via computers.

• All our food is of the highest quality.
• We change around 1500 m³ air/hour from the hotel.
• Our build in vacuum cleaner has microfilter.

Ydes Hotel has 25 rooms

• 5 rooms with double bed / 3-bed.
• 11 double rooms with single beds.
• 9 single bed rooms.
• All rooms are kept in light colours, nicely decorated and are highly functional.
• All rooms are maintained and are running re-designed
• There is bath, toilet, phone, free movie channels and wifi internet on all rooms.

In the restaurant a varied breakfast buffet is served consisting of:
(Cost 50,00 DKK / 7 € pr. day pr. person)

• Fresh baked bread and danish from a local bakery.
• Four different kind of toppings.
• Cheese, jam and meat  toppings.
• Cornflakes, oatmeal, yoghurt and muesli
• Coffee, tea, milk, juice and more.

Breakfast buffet is served from 06:30 till kl. 10:00 on weekdays and 07:30 til 10:00 in weekends.

Earlier breakfast buffet can be arranged with prior agreement.

Are you a company of minimum 10 persons that wants a light snack or a dinner, we are more than willingly to help put together a menu according to your wishes.

The hotel has projector / PC / wifi internet / LAN available for your use.

The following table setups are available:

• U-shape to 15 persons
• Classroom to 25 persons.
• Cinema to 25 persons.

Refreshments can be arranged with the reception.

If you need bigger meeting facilities it can be arranged in cooperation with our neighbour hotel.
